Spring is here in Chicago. As spring represents coming of fresh leaves and flowers, here at TBE we would like to welcome the new team. That also means it’s time to say final goodbye from your favorite bloggers. So let’s hear from each of us as we bid our final farewell and express our gratitude at having such a fantastic audience.
One thing which I realized after moving to the US was that holidays here are very different from the country I am from. In India, holidays and family festivities are centered around Diwali, while here in the US it starts from the Thanksgiving week and ends with Christmas and New Years. Like most of the internationals living far away from their families, I took this opportunity to get together with other international students and travel around the US. Having just moved to the US, I had a clean slate of travel adventures to write upon. Over my 2 years here at Chicago Booth, I got to travel much more than I have travelled before. Last year, I wrote about my experience during First Day (known as Admit Weekend then) as an admitted student. I loved my experience at First Day so much that when it ended, I was sure that Chicago Booth was the business school where I wanted to pursue my MBA.
Congratulations everyone who were admitted to Chicago Booth in Round One! This post continues my story about how Booth helped me switch careers from finance to technology.
Before business school, I was working at Credit Suisse in their Investment Banking division. The world of banking helped me understand how big corporates do business and gave me an opportunity to meet senior management of some of the biggest companies in the world. It was a dynamic and financially rewarding job. However, having fallen in love with technology during my undergrad, I missed being involved in the next wave of technology products. While I was busy clocking 80-100 hours every week in my banking job, the world of technology was becoming more exciting with each passing day.
