As a first year, you have the opportunity to lead or attend career treks around the country. With the help of second years, Career Services, and Booth alumni, you are able to visit multiple companies within a particular industry to explore your interests and network with Booth alumni and non-Booth employees. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about companies that don’t recruit on campus as well as experience firsthand the culture of companies that do recruit on campus. Boothies tend to travel quite a bit. Between long weekend trips to Cuba or Paris, Spring Break in Israel (aptly named BoothRight), Ski Trips to Canada and Colorado, Random Walks to Brazil, Japan, Costa Rica, Peru, Russia, South Africa…. and pretty much everywhere else, Boothies are a globally adventurous and travel-hungry crew!

Two weeks ago, we started the NVC Series by laying out what you can expect to see. One of the components we want to show is the variety of the businesses involved in the competition — in terms of industry, stage, and management team. To provide a little flavor, throughout the competition we will introduce a few teams from various angles, such as their business ideas, the feelings of the team members during the competition, and lessons learned. We believe it is more interesting and authentic to tell the story with a first person narrative… So here is the first sip of the “juice”: LemonBox from one of the founders, Cindy Nan, ’17.
On a starry February night, I embarked on a culinary journey of a lifetime: I joined several dozen lucky Boothies at Chicago’s NAHA restaurant, where we enjoyed a private event that included an unforgettable 4-course dinner and discussion with the restaurant’s Michelin-starred Chef Carrie Nahabedian.
