As a first year, you have the opportunity to lead or attend career treks around the country. With the help of second years, Career Services, and Booth alumni, you are able to visit multiple companies within a particular industry to explore your interests and network with Booth alumni and non-Booth employees. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about companies that don’t recruit on campus as well as experience firsthand the culture of companies that do recruit on campus. Here’s a quick recap of what some of the first year student leaders had to say about their treks:
Maybe it’s the snow that we got this week or that we just finished finals and are leaving for spring break, but here’s a quick look back at our winter break through the #BoothHolidays hashtag!
I embarked on a late January VC Trek shortly after learning that I was chosen to serve as a co-chair of the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Group. This revelation changed my outlook on the Trek: I became EVEN MORE aware of the contributions made by the fearless second year co-chairs, who worked relentlessly to come up with an astonishing experience.
How time flies! It is the holiday season again. Wondering why last winter in Chicago did not bother me much, I realized that it was this time last year 50 of us embarked an amazing trip to Seattle and the Bay Area – the Booth Tech Trek.
Booth Tech Trek is a student led trip that helps Boothies who are interested in a career in technology explore top tech companies in Seattle and the Bay Area, and to connect with alumni and each other. One of our beloved trek leaders, Vivian, did a great post at the beginning of the year from a trek leader perspective. After going through the summer internship and recruiting, I think it would be interesting to revisit the experience as a participant again and share with you why more and more people are thinking of Booth as an entrepreneurial and tech school.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and having just finished finals for the fall quarter I am ready for a break from words right now. So I’m going to let some pictures do the talking! Talking about what, you ask? BOOTH SKI TRIP!!
