Even when we’re not in the classroom, Boothies are constantly learning. We seek out information and take every opportunity to explore new industries. During the Fall Quarter, Boothies attended a lot of conferences, both on campus and around the country. Here’s a quick look at the long list of conferences we have access to as Booth students.
It’s intimidating to walk into a new career (even an internship) with zero work experience in the field. But that’s exactly the situation that I, like many of my peers, are finding ourselves in at this moment.
Like many Boothies, I’m a career transitioner (military to consulting, in my case). Though I was comfortable leading 150 combat soldiers, I was quite nervous thinking about how I should interact with a client. Also, like many of my peers, I like experiential learning in addition to classrooms and coffee chats – feeling like I need to touch & feel a process before I really understand it.
Fortunately, Booth built a course that’s exactly what I needed: Strategy Lab, which is a hands-on class that pairs small teams of students with real clients, solving real problems, mentored by real consultants.
Hi everyone! My name is Michael Kurt, and I am a second-year at Booth with the privilege of sharing my experience at this amazing place through this blog. As a creative director with fellow second-year Gaspar Betancourt, I will be incorporating engaging, visual elements into the blog to bring students’ perspectives to life. We’re all about having fun and developing ideas here at Booth, which inspired me to share my summer with you through the following poem. Enjoy!
Summer 2015 was an amazing time,
And I’d like to share it with you through the following rhyme.
I interned with Paramount Pictures in Hollywood,
And my time with the historic film studio was incredibly good.
The MBA internship is a time for learning new things and exploring outside of your comfort zone…and for some Booth students that means gaining international work experience. Brenda Desino used her summer internship to work in a country she had never even visited. Below she tells TBE about living and working in Brazil for the first time.
