Life at Booth can be busy, exciting, and inspiring all at once. This week on The Booth Experience, first-year student Matt Tracey does an excellent job of providing a glimpse into two of his action-packed days.

Social Impact at Booth

Today, Booth’s social impact community is excited to be at the annual Net Impact conference at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago. Net Impact is a student group for MBAs committed to using their business skills to create positive social impact while driving economic value. Some of the areas of interest for members include corporate social responsibility, impact investing, international development, education, and public sector service. Net Impact co-chair, Sarah Walczewski shares highlights of the upcoming conference and explains the role of Social Impact at Booth.

Community at Booth

Hello again. With round one of the application process behind us, I thought I would talk a little about the Booth community. No matter your interests, background, or demographics, one of the great things at Booth is the active engagement via student led groups. While you can find a comprehensive list of the groups at Booth through the Web site, today I am going to talk a little about my own personal experience with the Armed Forces Group (AFG). Media, Entertainment, and Sports Conference Experience

Welcome back. We are regularly trying to provide a wide variety of student perspectives that can help to highlight the social culture at Booth and the type of activities you can involve yourself in. For this posting, John Clinton, one of the co-chairs of Booth’s Media, Entertainment and Sports Group (MESG), has offered to share his experience in arranging the group’s annual conference. To provide a little context, every year this student led group arranges a symposium (over 110 participants from 5+ states) to discuss relevant issues and help educate students interested in pursuing a career in media, entertainment or sports. This year, the group had several keynote speakers to include Tom Ricketts, Chairman and owner of the Chicago Cubs and Patrick Benetucci, a President at Leo Burnett (both Booth alums). The conference is a tremendous amount of work to set up but is an incredibly popular event and was even covered by the Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune.
