Two days after the world celebrated “Back to the Future Day”, Booth’s Graduate Business Council (GBC) threw a time-traveling party of its own – The Booth Arcade ’80s Fall Mixer.
GBC’s “primary objective is to help maximize students’ life experiences while they are at Chicago Booth.” As the first GBC event of the school year, the arcade mixer did just that. It was a great way for 1Y and 2Y students to meet, mix, and mingle while sporting ’80s attire, enjoying food and beverages, and jamming out to our favorite throwback tunes. In its second year, the event has become a favorite among students. Check it out!
Before the official school year starts, almost 300 first year Boothies and partners will be led by a group of second years on trips around the world. These incredible trips—Random Walks—are a way to bond and grow friendships in the Booth community before the start of classes. Random Walks usually end up being one of the most memorable moments of your MBA.
At the end of Fall quarter, over 330 Boothies traveled to Vail, Colorado for the annual Booth Ski Trip. They could not have chosen a better time to go – 6-8 inches of snow fell every day, producing ideal skiing conditions. Over the course of the week, Conor Fernandez (a second year Booth student) filmed his fellow classmates conquering the mountain by day and partying by night.
While at Booth, Conor founded Activid, a video editing marketplace where people can submit footage to freelance editors who will turn that raw footage into a beautifully edited video. After returning to Chicago, Conor sent the Booth Ski Trip footage to one of Activid’s talented editors, who created this incredible video of their trip:
Oh Booth winter break, how I’ve missed you! Last year, winter break was the glorious reward after a busy first quarter balancing school and summer internship recruiting. But this year as a 2nd year student, it’s a bittersweet reminder that the Booth experience passes by all too quickly and we’re just two short quarters away from graduation. So this past December, Bayasaa Enkhbaatar (a fellow 2nd year Booth student, dear friend, and partner in crime) and I decided to give in to our wanderlust and embark on a two week adventure together to hike Patagonia and make the most of this break.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of Title IX, which established gender equality for males and females in all areas of educational programs, The Booth Experience is celebrating our talented female athletes. Check out this video on Women’s Sports and Leadership at Booth, where we hear from Erica Nollen, Jamie Castro, and Dana McLeod and the lessons they’ve learned.
