Revisiting My First Day

Revisiting My First Day

The organizing team for Admit Weekend 2014

Last year, I wrote about my experience during  First Day (known as Admit Weekend then) as an admitted student. I loved my experience at First Day so much that when it ended, I was sure that Chicago Booth was the business school where I wanted to pursue my MBA.

Now I am in my second year and enjoying the twilight stages of my business school life. As part of the First Day Team last year, I got to meet a number of admitted students who are now first years—some of them on the First Day Team this year. Seeing all of the effort the team has put in to ensure a great experience makes me nostalgic for the fun and energy that comes with First Day. After weeks of hard work and planning, everything comes together to make First Day a true gateway for the admits to the Chicago Booth life. Over the course of a few days, admits meet countless Boothies that will be their new peers in an environment very similar to the actual Booth experience.

My own experience as a member of the First Day Team was even better than when I was an admit. I got to meet impressive admits from so many different backgrounds, and it felt great to share my experiences at Booth. I agree with Associate Dean, Kurt Ahlm, in that every year the quality of the admit group keeps on improving. As I was the Social Media captain for the First Day, my responsibility included communicating through social media channels with admits. Although nothing could beat experiencing the First Day in person, following the day on social media can give an admit glimpse into how comprehensive and fun the First Day is.
