We talk about the value of different perspectives in LEAD and in classes like Managing in Organizations, Business Politics and Ethics, Managerial Decision Making, and many others. But what I find so invaluable about my Booth experience is that Booth is a place where diversity is not only taught but experienced firsthand. Booth is a rich, diverse place where I am constantly growing and learning from my peers who come from such a wide array of backgrounds.
And as today is Veterans Day, I wanted to express my gratitude to be able to learn from and alongside my amazing classmates who have served, or are currently serving, in the armed forces of their respective countries. Booth currently has 78 student veterans, 33 of which are international veterans from South Korea, Israel, Singapore, Taiwan, and Greece, and their military experiences bring an invaluable point of view to the classroom and the Booth community at large.
We are so lucky to have our Booth veterans and I wanted to use this platform to spotlight a few with stories that they have chosen to share.
Victoria Yunger, a first-year student, interviewed the female veterans at Chicago Booth – read their stories here: Veterans Day: Celebrating the (S)heroes of Booth
Eli Feret, a first-year Booth student, graduated from West Point in 2009 and served as a U.S. Army Infantry officer through 2016. You can read about his perspective on Veteran’s Day here: Veterans Day from a Veteran
And the Booth Armed Forces Group is a phenomenal student organization that provides a community and resources for Booth Veterans and their families. Read about their incredible mission here: Booth Armed Forces Group
