I am originally from Guangzhou – well-known as a hotspot for foodies – in Southeast China. Around 11 years ago, I came to the United States as an exchange student and attended the University of Houston. Since then I have lived in NYC, Denver, and in Houston again before I moved to Chicago to begin my Booth MBA. One of my favorite things to do in the city is visit the Chicago Botanic Garden with my one and half year old son!
Prior to Booth, I worked at IHS Markit, a consulting firm, in the Market Advisory department covering the petrochemicals market. I focused on market analysis for the commodity plastics market, and I also had the honor to speak at a few industry conferences regarding plastics recycling. This summer, I will be interning at Chevron through the Finance MBA Development Program. The internship has shifted to a virtual format due to COVID-19, and I am excited to navigate this uncharted territory.
I was drawn to Booth for many reasons. For one, as someone coming from a chemical engineering background, I knew I wanted to leverage my quantitative skills while simultaneously expanding knowledge in various business topics. Booth’s data-driven approach and reputation in finance fit my needs perfectly. Second, I wanted to pivot my career to corporate management, and Booth has excellent career support and an expansive alumni network, which I knew would be essential for a successful transition. Third, I am super impressed by the pay-it-forward culture demonstrated by the students and alumni, who are extremely talented and at the same time down-to-earth and genuine.
This coming year, you might find me representing the Mothers at Booth club, or hosting social and events for the Corporate Management Group, and I’ll be blogging about it all here on The Booth Experience. I am looking forward to sharing my life at Booth!
