Crossing Cultural Lines at the Diwali Cruise

Crossing Cultural Lines at the Diwali Cruise

A few final pins to hold it all in place.

The South Asian Business Group’s (SABG) Diwali cruise, which set sail Friday Oct. 16th, has become an annual Booth tradition. Indian food, choreographed dancing, colorful saris and kurtas, open bar, and a scenic cruise around Lake Michigan are all hallmarks  of the event which celebrates the Hindu festival of lights.

The Diwali cruise not only highlights our school’s cultural diversity, but students’ eagerness to embrace each others’ unique backgrounds. As highlighted in this photo post, SABG co-chair Shelley Gupta (’16) gets her friends Becca Yang (’16) and Alicia Elliot (’16) Diwali cruise-ready in her saris and Indian jewelry.
