Celebrating Chinese New Year

Celebrating Chinese New Year

Every year between January and February, people around the world celebrate Chinese New Year. 2019 is the year of the Pig and Booth’s Greater China Club (GCC) and Epicurean Club took the opportunity to share it with their classmates.

The Epicurean Club never misses an opportunity to celebrate different cultures and this year was no different. In February, the club went to eat at Sun Wah, a 2018 James Beard Classics Award winning restaurant. Sun Wah is famous for its Beijing Duck Dinner which is a multi course feast that starts with the promptly roasted, crispy-skin, whole duck wheeled table side to be carved in front of you.

In January, GCC hosted a Chinese New Year LPF with the Graduate Business Council. GCC worked with GBC to ensure that traditional Chinese food was served. The club also organized UChicago’s Chinese Students and Scholars Association (UC-CSSA) to perform at LPF. The Chinese traditional dance is based on a poem that was written 2,000 years ago!
