Howdy! My name is Cooper, and I am a rising second year MBA student at Booth. I’m (obviously) from Texas, where I spent my whole life before moving to Chicago for business school last summer. I have had an amazing time at Booth so far, and I look forward to sharing my experiences with y’all through The Booth Experience (TBE) this upcoming year. In addition to being a member of the TBE team, I am a co-chair of both the Investment Banking Group and the Booth Boxing Club. Fun fact: Before coming to Booth, I had never banked or boxed. The key takeaway here is that you can be anything you want to be at Booth!
Now, back to the ole Texas narrative – I was born in Houston, grew up in the north Dallas suburbs (effectively Oklahoma), and went to college in Austin at the University of Texas. At UT Austin, I majored in finance and minored in simply having a nice time enjoying the Austin live music scene. After undergrad, I worked in corporate finance at ExxonMobil in Fort Worth and then at CBRE in Dallas before coming to Booth. I spend much of my time skateboarding and playing fetch with my mini Australian shepherd (Gatsby!) when I am not in the classroom or office.
Speaking of the office, I am interning as a Summer Associate in the Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging Investment Banking group at J.P. Morgan in New York this summer. I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship experience thus far, and I could not have gotten here if it were not for the support of my peers, my second year MBA mentors, and the broader Booth community. What makes Booth such a special place is everyone’s wholehearted commitment to supporting each other and creating a culture of camaraderie. I am excited to work with the rest of the TBE team to highlight these themes of the Booth experience this year. So, stay tuned!
