Celebrating Lunar New Year at Booth

Celebrating Lunar New Year at Booth

The Chicago Booth community is composed of students from 56 different countries. From language families to formal clubs to informal gatherings hosted by classmates during festive seasons – there is no shortage of ways we celebrate our global student body. And for many students, sharing cultural celebrations is a highlight of the Booth experience both as a host and as a participating guest.

Last week, Boothies came together across town to bring in the Lunar New Year. Below are a few highlights of the celebration:

Booth Club Celebrations

Booth’s Greater China Club and Asian American Student Association partnered together to organize a delivery of over a thousand dumplings from Chicago’s beloved restaurant, Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings. Hundreds of students joined for a virtual social event where they ate dumplings and discussed Lunar New Year Traditions.

Celebrating at Home

Many Boothies opened their homes to classmates to teach the art of the homemade dumpling. 2Y Katherine Zhang shares her famous dumpling recipe below:

Celebrating with Kellogg

The celebration wasn’t just within the Booth family. Some Boothies teamed up with friends at Kellogg to celebrate the New Year as well.

On behalf of the entire Booth Experience team, we wish you a wonderful New Year!
